When a police officer is murdered by a fellow officer, lawyer Rick Gervais is confronted with the task of defending an innocent man framed for the crime. However, as Rick delves into the case, he unwittingly becomes entangled in a treacherous web of corruption and imminent danger.

At the heart of this unfolding tragedy is 92-year-old Dee, the sole witness to the crime.  As she finds herself under the ominous pressure of police threats, Dee seeks refuge in Rick. Recognizing Dee’s pivotal role in his clients defence, Rick takes a bold step, personally hiding her from those relentless in their mission to silence her. Yet, this courageous move triggers a swift retaliation from those safeguarding the interests of the police.

Rick is abducted, but his sleight-of-hand skills allow him to slyly acquire a mysterious mobile phone. Its owner, far from ordinary, unwittingly becomes a wildcard in the unfolding chaos.

Desperate for a lifeline, Rick uses the unconventional mobile phone to call for help. However, a cruel twist of fate forces him to navigate a bizarre realm of identity, as his name coincides with a notorious hoax caller. To conceal his true identity, Rick employs a voice-changing app on the phone, transforming himself into a Chinese-accented woman. To complicate matters further, he must coax the phone’s owner into revealing its password, as without it, his location is untraceable.

In a final, desperate bid to escape further torture, Rick hatches a daring plan—a rendezvous between the bad guys and the good, hoping it will be the salvation for both him and Dee. But things take a dangerous turn when the police protectors catch wind of Rick having access to a phone all along. Desperate to find Dee’s whereabouts, they swiftly attempt to fix the situation by burying Rick alive with a walkie-talkie. Faced with a grim choice between a slow death and cooperation, Rick must talk.

‘Hoax’ is a Work in Progress.
