Beneath the Cassock is a slow-burn, character-driven story about a faithless Catholic priest with a
drug habit, who begins to unravel when the ghost of the lover he murdered returns. Set in a small
Scottish town simmering between doctrine and more modern values, the film explores guilt,
identity, faith, and escape. At its core, it’s about the cost of burying truth and what happens when
it doesn’t stay buried. It’s not about whether forgiveness exists but whether it means anything
without consequence. And what a man might do when the world refuses to punish him, but the
guilt is too much to bear.
